Car Wash Fundraiser: THIS SUNDAY!!!
Hi team, just a reminder that this Sunday is our first fundraiser. Unless I hear otherwise, I will see you at 11am to help set up. Our wash is “officially” over at 1:30, but I’m guessing it will linger on 15 minutes or so later than that. So, please be available to stay until as late as 2:30. Many hands make light (and in this case, wet) work, so let’s be ready to help clean up and finish up together.
Here’s a link to the car wash commercial from services this weekend. If any of you would like to star in future commercials related to our mission trip, please let Mr. Kevin Albert know! We will be filming another one this week or next.
Important Support Letter Update… (Parents take note!)
I am making some changes to our support letter timeline.
Are you ready?! Please make the changes on your outline from our first Training Meeting (April 12th). I’ll print out a revised outline for our next meeting on Saturday, May 10th.
OK, here we go:
- New Final Draft mailing date: Friday, May 2nd–one week from this coming Friday. This is one week later than the original date
- New support giving deadline: Friday, June 20th–the first day of summer, and one week later than the original date.
- SUPER-DUPER IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR YOUR ACTUAL LETTERS. You’ll need to add a detail to your FINAL DRAFT: The revised support-giving deadline (the support cards will still say June 13th).
Please note that ALL rough drafts of your letters should be submitted to Rachael (princesspickles10@gmail.com) by now. We’ll get ‘em edited and back to you ASAP–by the end of this week.

Campus Serving Day
OK, so Saturday’s team serving day with The Coastlands campus fam was out-of-control F-U-N!!! I LOVE what the Interns and Residents have done with their Saturday cleaning responsibilities. There is A LOT that has to get done EVERY week in order to clean the building/grounds and prepare a place to welcome our church family and guests into our church home each weekend.
I am convinced that there are few serving opportunities that are as fun as Saturday cleaning. If you don’t believe me, try it yourself sometime! =) I am grateful for the time our team spent with the campus folks. We can learn a lot about the heart of serving when we do it with people who are walking in it day-in, and day-out.
After a yummy pancake and sausage breakfast, we ventured over to the “Secret Garden” by the front lawn for several games of high-speed Dodge Ball. Then we journeyed back into the building and split up into teams to clean. I think we may have finished in record time, as our Dodge Ball games took a little (lot?) more time than planned! We finished around 12:30 and enjoyed a cheeseburger BBQ lunch courtesy of Michael and Priska and the campus family.
Thanks to everyone for your great attitudes and willingness. You are a GREAT team. Don’t think for a moment that what you gave on Saturday doesn’t matter. IT DOES! And it is preparing your hearts for our soon-coming mission trip.

IT’S ON!!!
Saturday, April 12th was our first official training meeting…and it was a good one! After having lunch together, we spent a good chunk of time going over guidelines and logistics for the trip (upcoming meetings and events, support letters and fundraising process, etc.). We had the VERY fun privilege of hearing from Johanna Hom, who spoke on UNITY…and told a GREAT and memorable story to illustrate her point. Everyone on the team was tuned in and engaged with what was being said. We wrapped up our time together in small group prayer–the focus being (yep, you guessed it!) UNITY.
PARENTS AND YOUTH WHO WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND, PLEASE CONNECT WITH ME SOON SO I CAN FILL YOU IN ON THE IMPORTANT MATERIAL WE COVERED DURING OUR SATURDAY MEETING.
Our next time together as a team will be this coming Saturday, April 19th from 9am – noon. We’ll be serving together as a team on campus. We’ll meet at The Spot for donuts and a team activity before we get our SERVE on!
ALSO coming up soon is our first team FUNDRAISER: The Nation Underground CAR WASH on Sunday, April 27th, from 11:30 – 1:30 at The Coastlands. YOUTH, please stop by the Conference Room this Saturday during the 5pm service to pick up your car wash tickets. You’ll have this coming weekend and the following weekend to sell your tickets.
